Breakaway Music Festival Takes On Grand Rapids In 2017

Since its 2013 inception, Breakaway Music Festival has had a way of pleasing hungry crowds with a diverse taste. Breakaway first debuted in Columbus and Dallas with equally flawless lineups. Columbus was lucky to see an eclectic range of headliners; Bassnectar, Empire of the Sun, Kendrick Lamar, Porter Robinson and hometown heroes Twenty One Pilots just to name a few. While that lineup might seem fantasy-like, Dallas was no different.  Empire of the Sun, Big Gigantic, Juicy J and Wu-Tang made for one of the most stellar lineups Dallas had seen in recent years.

Fast forward three years later to the triumphant return of Breakaway Columbus. With the first time around being an obvious success, Columbus was ready for more and more they got. The initial 2016 lineup was stacked with names like Benny Benassi, Alison Wonderland, Waka Flocka, RL Grime, Young Thug and Dillion Francis. Given Columbus was forced to wait a few years for the second addition of Breakaway, they were treated with a BIG surprise. The final announced headliner was Chance the Rapper. Not yet at the cusp of his prime, Chance was well versed at filling the appetites of soul hungry music lovers.

This year's lineup has yet to be released. What we do know is that for the first time Breakaway will take place in both Columbus and Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2017. Columbus goers will be juiced to hear that the festival will return to it's original venue, MAPFRE stadium. Dates are set for August 25-26th for Michigan and September 1-2nd in Columbus. Prime Social Group has made one thing clear, they know how to throw a great festival. #FEST is celebrating 15 years of success this year and now Breakaway is a fierce force to be reckoned with. While we eagerly await one of the summer's hottest lineups, make sure to like the Breakaway Facebook page for additional updates.
